I'm so doing this....

Sweater Day!!! Spread the word.

A tribute to children's public television pioneer Fred Rogers will include an effort to get people everywhere to wear a sweater on what would have been his 80th birthday.

March 20th is being promoted as "Sweater Day" to honor Rogers, who died of cancer five years ago. A sweater was his trademark garb on "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood."

David Newell, who played speedy deliveryman Mr. McFeely on the show, appears in a YouTube video that touts the event.

"Sweater Day" is the capstone to a six-day celebration planned by Family Communications Inc. of Pittsburgh. Rogers created the company to produce his show.

Aw, I think I've loved and could appreciated Mr. Rogers even more as an adult than I did as a kid because he was just such a nice, nice man that truly seemed to care about kids. I cried when he died and just felt like we lost someone really special that day. I so hope I remember to do this sweater thing in his honor.

OMG! I loved Mr. Rogers! I associate him so much with my childhood. Really, I watched him every. single. day.
Hubby even reminds me of him (hehe :))

Thanks so much for posting!

That's Zach's 18th birthday. We are going to be in Rome that day. We will have to sneak away from the high school group so we can have a glass of wine that day...

And I will wear a sweater (if I remember) although I don't think the Italians will get it...
